Good content is the foundation of effective search engine optimization (SEO). Therefore, it behooves a wise person to plan out and create content regularly to feed the search engine. Google still owns search with around 90% of all global searches. Google looks for the freshest, most relevant, and helpful content that matches what the searcher puts into the search box. The question is, how does a busy business owner make time to create fresh, relevant and helpful content at least once a week? Here are some tips for you to be able to improve your SEO ranking this year.
Content Marketing Strategies for 2024
Content marketing strategies remain basically unchanged for 2024. Basically, the more you blog, the more traffic you’ll attract to your website. “I’m too busy running by business to blog!” you may say. And that’s true. Nevertheless, unless you have more customers than you can handle or your only customer is a government agency and you’re not looking of new business, then you have to consistently market your business. If you stop your marketing because you’re busy, people will think you fell off the face of the earth.
Here are some tips to help you get your content marketing act together…
- Use Artificial Intelligence (AI) for research ONLY! Tempting as it may be, relying solely on AI is the wrong way to go. All AI does is scrape the Internet for content. In other words, it plagiarizes or steals content from webpages. Several corporations are suing AI companies for plagiarism. Don’t be lazy. I remember when pocket calculators first came out when I was in college in the early 70s. My dependency on using a calculator reduced my mind’s ability to do math. It’s the same with AI.
- Focus your blog articles on YOUR unique expertise and experience. Use phrases like “for example, a past client had this problem and this is how I solved it for them…” Or, “In my experience…” Or, “I once faced that same issue…” In the previous point, I used “I remember” — that’s experience. Create content that AI cannot replicate!
- Tell Stories. You can’t get more unique than telling stories. Use customer testimonials, User Generated Content (UGC), hypothetical situations, “Don’t let this happen to you.” Give advice, be helpful. For instance, if you’re a contractor, each remodel or each custom home you build has a story. Each creation has a story. You don’t have to name names if you don’t want to, just tell the story!
- Publish a blog post no less than once a week. If you haven’t blogged in a while, start with 2-3 times a week for 2 weeks to let Google know that your website is no stagnant. Then go down to once a week — at least! Any fewer and you’ll lose the SEO. Blogging once a month just won’t cut it.
- Lastly, share your blog posts again and again on your social media networks. Use a scheduler like Sendible or Dlvr.it to schedule out posts to repeat every other week or so. Each time you share your blog post (or any link from your website) on your social media networks, you create a legitimate backlink.
