The rise of new social media networks was inevitable. Now the question is should you be marketing your business on these new social media apps? Who’s on them? Are there enough people on them to make it worth your while? How do you connect with people? How do you get noticed?
Well, in this video I’ll be introducing you to the latest social media networks as part of my monthly 2nd Saturday Social Media Update with the Wiz for August 2021. First, let’s go over some of the news items. We’ve got some new features that I’m sure will be of interest to you….
Digital Marketing News for August 2021
This month, besides new social media features, I touch on Google’s Core Web Vitals update, cybersecurity, Google news and YouTube.
Social Media App News
LinkedIn Rolls Out Live Native Video Meetings!
This has to be the most exciting one. I said it was about time! It’s via their mobile app only at this time. Start at a chat with a user, tap on the video icon at the top right, then Create Video Meeting. You can also schedule a meeting for later if the user isn’t active at the time. You’ll see a green dot next to a user’s picture if they are on the network.
This is the coolest new feature, as it allows you to quickly connect with someone you haven’t seen for a while.
This feature is for people who offer services and is great to add to your social proof!
YouTube Adds Chapters Automatically
This new feature is a bit time consuming, but your subscribers will love it. You can add chapter points within your video making it easy for them to jump to a spot that interests them. Read more here….
It boggles my mind how many ways a hacker or cyber criminals can hack or break into your life. If it’s not directly through your office or home computers and networks, it’s through one of the vendors or businesses that you frequent. Though this isn’t my specialty, I felt that these needed to be shared, so you have the latest information. Here are some of the latest cybersecurity news items….
- Cyberattackers Embrace CAPTCHAs to Hide Phishing, Malware
- Ransomware Gangs Exploiting Windows Print Spooler Vulnerabilities
- Android Malware ‘FlyTrap’ Hijacks Facebook Accounts
The Google Core Web Vitals update started in early June, 2021 and will finish at the end of August, 2021. Some websites may or may not have noticed a decrease in search engine traffic. You have to check your analytics and compare the last 3 months to see if there is a difference. Test your website here. If you get a score below 80, you need to talk to a web person to see how you can improve your site’s performance. Otherwise, you’re going to lose business.
