You may be asking yourself, “What is Content Marketing?” The short answer is blogging. It’s also producing podcasts and visuals, like videos, infographics, and animations. Nevertheless, blogging on your website is the foundation for effective digital marketing and search engine optimization (SEO).
Additionally, content marketing is how you build your following on social media networks and grow an email list. Blogging connects you to your target audience and positions you as an expert in your field. That is, a trusted source of information. The strategy is to talk about what you know, which is your business, your expertise, service, or products. Furthermore, you want to educate your potential customers. Don’t assume they know everything! Offer advice and helpful content.
What is a Good Content Marketing Strategy?
In this video, I explain the basics of content marketing. Keep in mind that today, we have money-saving and time-saving AI tools to help you create your content. I can show you how in 1:1 customized training sessions.
The Keys to Success for Your Blog Are:

- Make it as long as it needs to be: It should be at least 300 words. Moreover, you can go longer if you need to explain your point further, educate, or tell a story.
- Write in natural language, written for the human reader but with the AI search bot in mind. Do your keyword and question research first. Then incorporate them in the body of the blog article. The keyword or question lists will also provide topics of what people are searching for. Remember Google’s E-E-A-T and the new N-E-E-A-T-T!
- Write for your target audience: What will solve their problems or make their lives better? Answer their questions. Use a free site like Quora to find out what people are asking about your topic. Remember, you are the expert; they are not. Write as if you were writing for an 11-year-old. Refrain from using a lot of industry jargon. If you must use it, explain what it means.
- Always use a graphic: Make sure it is large enough, but not too big that it makes the page load slowly. Above all, use pictures that depict your target market. If you’re trying to reach millennials, don’t use pictures of older folks. Of course, you can use more than one picture. And, to help with SEO, include the “alt text” description of the graphic using the keywords or phrases in your title.
- Use an editorial calendar: Plan it out, but be flexible to incorporate new questions. Undoubtedly, this is crucial with the AI evolution. You want to be in tune with what your target is asking the AI chatbots. Take advantage of what’s going to be trending on social media. I publish a monthly “What’s Trending in…” article with awareness and observance days to help you plan and take advantage of upcoming holidays and trends.
- Tell stories: Like success stories, project stories, people stories. Folks like to see themselves in articles and get ideas.
- Blog at least once a week, 2 – 3 times a week is optimal! If you’re just starting, you’ll need to blog at least daily for 2-3 weeks so that your content will get noticed by Google, the chatbots, and your potential clients.

Consequently, another question is the platform on which your website sits. Personally, I prefer WordPress and here’s why. With WordPress, you also have many free plugins to save time, add functionality, and help with SEO and security. Besides that, you can always find someone who knows WordPress to help fix your website. I’ve been working on WordPress for over 15 years and I would never go back to coding HTML or attempt to use another platform.
